Muay Thai quote[edit]

"To understand the power of the Thai boxing round kick, Chai Sirisute [president and founder of the Thai Boxing Association of the U.S.A., a legend in Thailand], at 135 pounds, registered a kick at 250 psi on a Dallas Cowboy's placekickers' gauge. To break human bones takes a strike impacting at 160 psi. His star pupil [at the time of the article], All-Pro Defensive Lineman Randy White, measured 400 psi on the same gauge after two months of Thai boxing training. Thai boxers have been knownto break a hip or thigh bone with a single round kick."

Major Rewrite[edit]

Article was largely unreferenced. I did a major rewrite, and referenced everything I could. Feel free to add more info as relevent and referenced. --Jayron32 07:14, 5 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Post football?[edit]

The guy has been retired for almost two decades. What has he been doing since? Jacob1207 01:53, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • I did much of the rewrite, and the references I had didn't mention much. The football books I have only talked about his football life, and all of the web-based bios I found on him did much the same. Saw him on TV doing an interview during the ACC Championship game pregame show, but there was nothing of substance. He was signing autographs and rehashing his Maryland glory days. If ANYONE has references to his pre- or post- football personal life, it would REALLY improve this article a BUNCH. --Jayron32 03:52, 15 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Well there are several cowboys books outthere that mention White alot, you can use that as refs. Jaranda wat's sup 01:35, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA Failed[edit]

I'm a fan of Randy White, and it's a decent article but I'm failing this for several reasons.

Half the article is list, some of it can be expanded to prose, can be expanded more especially that there has been books written about the Cowboys in the 1970s and trivia sections aren't recomended, see WP:AVTRIV.
Fails 1a, needs a copyedit, some weasel words around like The move was a natural fit and those quotes are unsourced.

removed personal analysis and opinion[edit]

The sections that have been removed by me once (and by other editors as well, I was not the only one who removed them, merely the last) have the following problems: 1) They contain quotes which lack a direct footnoted citation 2) This section: "White was rountinely double and triple teamed, yet his unrelenting spirit and unwillingness to quit on a play helped White continue to have success. White's superior play helped team-mate Harvey Martin to routinely receive only a single blocker, allowing Martin to provide a consistant pass rush against the competition. Randy White was considered by many as the standard by which all other defensive tackles were judged by during his NFL career. " is entirely unreferenced analysis. If one could say "sportswriter John Doe notes that White was routinely..." or something like that, it would be good because we could attribute this opinion to a reliable source. However, as it reads now, it simply uncited opinion. If, as you claim on my talk page, that all of this opinion can be attributed to reliable sources, please provide that attribution in the form of footnotes, or leave the sources here at the talk page and I can format it correctly for you. For more information on Wikipedia policies that apply to this, see the following pages: WP:OR, WP:V, WP:CITE. Thanks. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 01:00, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In the NFL's Top 100 Players, White is ranked #62. Relevant to this discussion, now retired Washington Redskin offensive tackle Mark May, who is the on-camera narrator, says that Randy White was frequently double-teamed because he routinely pummelled a single blocker. The video includes several clips showing White getting around a blocker, including notably May's teammate, Russ Grimm. May tells the audience that, after May engaged in trash talk with White, Grimm begged him to stop. "He's not playing over you! He's playing over my ass! He's kicking my ass!" The video is available on YouTube, but I don't know if the person who put it up had permission to do so (ie was a copyright violated?). Can that video be used as a reference? There is also another video on YouTube which includes a section that shows White tying up three blockers.

That White was routinely double teamed and sometimes triple teamed is beyond any doubt. But I agree that references must be provided. Can these videos be used as references? Raryel (talk) 03:05, 26 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Should I Do This?[edit]

Should I make the t in the master capital? SupersaurYT (talk) 21:22, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @SupersaurYT Not if you mean for the nickname: the Manster. Please see this: MOS:NICKNAMETHE. It explains that a nickname should begin with a lower case t. - Bringingthewood (talk) 21:33, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
