Poorly Written, Maybe =========[edit]
I am in the U.S. I don't work in construction, but I am a highly technical person. I do not understand this article. Cladding, sheathing, barrier, siding, veneer you would have to be an expert to understand something described with all this jargon!

The specific "hat bars" and "sub girts" mentioned in this article are just one way to do a rainscreen. We've used treated plywood strips for the verticals with success in our dry climate. In our system, there were no sub girts and no insulation on the outside of the sheathing. A rainscreen can exist without insulation in the "sub girt" area.... Article should be edited to include other variations.
Disputed[edit]
This article does not describe a rainscreen. It describes a hat-channel cavity cladding system. A rainscreen is a specific kind of pressure-equalized cladding system incorporating much more than just an air cavity, as described here: http://archive.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/obj/irc/doc/ctu-n17_eng.pdf
This may be, but the problem is bigger than that. By using overly technical language suitable for a reader qualified as an architect or engineer, and by describing the approach in reference purely to patented commercial material systems, this article would mislead the general reader into an assumption that rain screens require fancy, expensive, professionally installed systems. The concept should be described in general terms.

Disputed Image[edit]
The image is not representative of the topic. It is incorrectly claiming the underlayment is called a "rainscreen," when the whole assembly should be a rainscreen. In addition, the image description appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia.

Merger proposal[edit]
The articles rainscreen drainage plane, rainscreen, rainscreen principle, and rainscreen cladding all cover the same subject. Rainscreen cladding was started in 2008, has a good title, has several references, and has four interlanguage links so I propose this be the article title and the others merge into the article rainscreen cladding.
