Confusing[edit]

I found the first paragraph unreadable, it could use some cleanup. No matter how technical an article, the first paragraph should be readable. Let the following paragraphs become abstruse. Mathiastck 18:31, 25 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I too have a hard time with this article. It assumes too much background knowledge. It has no general discussion about what this protocol is, what various forms it takes, what it's used for, it's history, etc. I already know a little bit about them and use them but came here to learn something more and went away without the info I was looking for. Please note that the example on this page presents a somewhat distorted view of RMI-IIOP. The whole idea of RMI-IIOP is to use RMI syntax during development without catering for CORBA, and to only factor in the underlying IIOP mechanism using the "-iiop" switch of the rmic compiler. The given example may be working as is (didn't try), but it does not represent the intended benefit of RMI-IIOP. It's more like an example of using CORBA in Java.

See http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/rmi-iiop/tutorial.html for a better example.

NPOV[edit]

I don't think the following sentence has a neutral point of view--it sounds like marketing puffery:

The joint work by Sun and IBM to implement Object Management Group (OMG) standards demonstrates the spirit of collaboration that continually moves the Java platform forward. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.240.243.170 (talk) 17:40, 12 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Source of that article[edit]

This "article" has been copied and pasted as it is from Sun's Information about RMI-IIOP. Therefore it's not surprising that it's pro-Sun :) --87.79.69.45 (talk) 12:41, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
