I was once told by a Store Manager that QT has an agreement with 7/11 never to build a store in OKC in exchange for them to never build a store in Tulsa. Is this legal? --Jimwelch 22:29, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

QT in the KC Sprint Center[edit]

Employee editing?[edit]

Does anyone else feel like this was obviously written by an employee of QT? I'm a huge fan of QT, and shop there often, but seriously, do we need to know that they try to replace old buildings with new ones or that customers can "add cherry or vanilla" to their drinks? Who else better? We are the biggest fans of QT. As long as we don't put anything biased like "QT is better than all other C-stores." The fact that the company replaces old stores is a business practice to maintain the highest quality for the customers. I do agree that the cherry/vanilla thing is a bit much. Most places have that now anyway. It is basically a standard addition to fountain machines.--DisturbedPuppy 23:35, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone just tagged this article for speedy deletion. I added the hangon tag. As it stands this article needs a substantial rewrite to make this look like less of an advertisement. Is there anyone who is interested in making an area for the new QT carwashes? Cleanup[edit]

I can't bear to see an article on QT deleted (I love that place) so I cleaned up the article and removed the tags (per the instructions in the speedy delete tag). Regarding, citation needed for lower gas prices, for years the price of gas in Bartlesville was 0.10 higher than in Tulsa, despite it being the home of Phillips Petroleum at the time. When QT came to town in the late 70's, prices are 1-2 cents cheaper than Tulsa. The cheaper now is due to Tulsa needing more add-ins for cleaner air. --Jimwelch 22:19, 15 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Six Months[edit]

You have to work six months at qt to get any kind of promotion. Furthermore, I'm pretty sure that the 'everyone must work in a QT store' is bunk. There are lots of IT people who have never worked in a store. Most of the IS staff has 5+ years seniority and yes, they *all* started in the stores. QT's Information Services department doesn't need people who are good with computers it needs people committed to learning about them and staying loyal to the company. And how do you demonstate committment? Long-term service in the stores.

Gentleman's Agreement?[edit]

I'm pretty sure this is a bogus myth made up by some store employee handed down from generation to generation. Maybe its true but the news article that it refernces states that Chester made a gentleman's agreement with a "friend" in OKC not to compete. It doesn't necessarily say that it was 7/11 as stated in the Wiki. The myth I heard was that it was Love's truck stops.

Yes it is true, and I've seen multiple sources that say the same thing....even Chester Cadieux saying himself that he doesn't want to compete with his friend who owns the 7-11s in OKC. I'll have to dig them up. Scootey (talk) 21:37, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Market Pullouts[edit]

Should it be mentioned that QuikTrip was formerly in other markets? Specifically, in Iowa, I recall them being in Ames, Waterloo, Cedar Rapids (pulled out c. 2006), and Iowa City.

I would assume this was the case in some other smaller markets as well.

Written like a brochure.[edit]

This article is written like it's a brochure for the company. There is little to no information on the company, its history or its structure, and it focuses on the store, it's layout, what it's selling, and random trivia that are not notable. I refer those who have edited this page to WP:NOT as well as WP:POV. I am going to add a POV tag to this article for the purpose of bringing this to the attention of driven and knowledgeable editors.


Examples of questionable prose:

1. "QuikTrip locations are larger than the average convenience store, offering anywhere from 6 to 29 gas pumps and a large retail space inside. All stores are owned and operated by the company and have a uniform layout: to the right of the doors are the candy and grocery items, as well as the coolers housing bottled soda and alcohol; and to the left are the snack display, fountain drinks (including coffee and frozen drinks), hot food area (comprising Oscar Meyer Beef Hot Dogs, Chicken Taquitos, Pepperjack Cheese Taquitos, Steak Taquitos, Buffalo Chicken Bites, Johnsonville Brats, Corn dogs, and Jalapeño Cheese Dogs), coolers with cold sandwiches inside, and the microwaves for frozen products. QuikTrip sells Freezoni, a frozen drink comparable to 7-11's Slurpee. Front and center is the checkstand, which usually has space for two or three employees and three to five POS registers. 2. "In the Dallas/Fort Worth and Atlanta metro areas, QuikTrip competes head to head with RaceTrac, an Atlanta-based convenience store chain that is very similar to QuikTrip inside and out. Both chains tend to have new clean facilities with abundant on-site lighting, a large convenience area.[original research?]. In many cases, the two competitors are located directly across the street or on opposite street corners from one another. Because the company operates stores in Iowa and holds the trademarks to the name within that state, competing chain Kwik Trip uses a different name for their stores in the state, Kwik Star. In 1994, QuikTrip acquired the former Memorex/Telex Communications headquarters in Tulsa and remodeled part of the building for its Oklahoma division. In 2003, QuikTrip decided to consolidate all employees into one corporate campus in south Tulsa and sold the building to Community Care College. 3. "QuikTrip had its own branded goods marketed from the 1970s-1980s, including QT Beer — QT for "Quittin' Time." The ad campaign would say that it was "It's QT Time Again," and would often show a dog named Lamar. The dog's owner was portrayed in television commercials by actor Ben Jones, who often asked the dog, "Ain't that right, Lamar?" On October 10, 2007, as a founding partner, QT also began operating a location inside the Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri. This unit only operates during arena events. QT opened its 500th store in May 2008 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Chester Cadieux reprised his role at the milestone store by ringing up the first customer, Burt Holmes, who was the co-founder of QuikTrip. QuikTrip signed an agreement with the city of Grand Prairie, Texas for naming rights to the Grand Prairie AirHogs' new stadium, to be named QuikTrip Park. QT will have a booth at the stadium and, within two years, will sell QT Kitchens products at the park for store price."
