Untitled[edit]

This road is only one section of a larger road. There was only one sentence unique to this article. I've merged that sentence to Queen's Road and redirected this article there. SchmuckyTheCat 09:48, 16 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They are, legally speaking, four roads. The Queensway, in particular, does not share part of its name like the other three do. — Instantnood 19:20, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is one road. That they are called "Way, Central, East, West" is irrelevant. This one sentence stub article does not contain any information that can't be in Queen's Road. See that talk page for more details of why. SchmuckyTheCat 21:24, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You've got their Chinese names, don't you? — Instantnood 18:42, 19 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I've put the merge template on this page to put this content back into Queen's Road. This article will never be more than a stub and has more context and history within the article on the longer road that it is a part of. SchmuckyTheCat 17:26, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia:Article size says,
  • A rule of thumb.
Some useful rules of thumb for splitting articles, and combining small pages (tables, list-like sections and markup excluded):
  • <1K - If an article or list has remained this size for over a couple of months, consider combining it with a related page; this does not apply to a redirect or disambiguation page. Alternatively, why not fix it by adding more info? See Wikipedia:Stub. If it's a really important article that's just too short, put it under COTW, a project to improve stubs or nonexistent articles.
Please discuss at talk:Queen's Road. — Instantnood 19:41, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Queensway Road[edit]

Why the name changed in 1967?[edit]

What made Hong Kong Government change both English and Chinese names in 1967? — HenryLi (Talk)

Date of creation of road - 1967 or earlier?[edit]

The assertion of the road's sectioning from Queen's Road East in 1967 is unreferenced. Neither was it much mentioned in the lively discussion on whether Queensway should be part of a single Queen's Road article[3], but it may all rely on two dodgy references from a bulletin board [4] and [5]. Also see Chinese page. Unfortunately Legco records are only online back to 1970 (Google with site:legco.gov.hk/yr70-71) and I can't find any other mention of the creation of Queensway in the years up to 1967. Except this one reference from 1970 to "Queensway was reconstructed some 18 or 20 years ago". Does that imply that the name was created (or already existed) in 1950 or 1952, or was the legislator (three years after QW was carved out of QRE) referring to physical work done on what was at the time QR or QRE? This issue is central to this article and needs to be looked into and sorted out. We need a reference! Onanoff (talk) 06:14, 2 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hong Kong Government Gazette is the authoritative source. Newpaper is also a good source. — HenryLi (Talk) 00:41, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Henry. I haven't checked the Gazette specifically, but it didn't come up online.
But Gwulo has a map from 1964 showing Queensway, with the comment the name changed within the period 1939-1964. So I've removed the reference to 1967 from the article, pending confirmation. Onanoff (talk) 06:09, 4 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
