Unintelligible gibberish.[edit]

I studied mathematics, specifically with a substantial focus on algebra, as a student (albeit some decades ago, and I did rather neglect my homework after I got to university, as Tim Gowers can attest). I have a tolerably good understanding of most of the basic concepts of Group Theory, albeit without having really mastered all the finer points of the more hifalutin' complications. I routinely think about these topics and others in mathematics; I write my own pages in which I don't do a brilliant job of explaining mathematics to others, but at least I try. So I hope those who maintain this page will see that there is something wrong with this page when I tell you that, after reading it, I was no closer to knowing what a quasithin group is than I was before.

I strongly suspect that this page is only intelligible to those who already know what quasithin groups are; if that suspicion is correct, this page is entirely useless. This is a problem I have routinely encountered on Wikipedia's pages on mathematics. Regurgitating what your teachers told you may well get you a pass on the exam they set you, to verify you actually took their course, but that is no guarantee that someone who didn't already know the subject matter will find the same content in any sense useful. Please try to write pages that will inform someone who comes to each page to learn something they didn't know already. -- Eddy 84.212.132.95 (talk) 20:12, 15 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
