Pogrom in Przytyk (1936), song about the burning shtetl (1938)[edit]

Yidish song by Mordekhai Gebirtig: S'brent! briderlekh, s'brent! Oy, undzer orem shtetl nebekh brent! 79.251.122.52 (talk) 03:50, 20 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Nonsense[edit]

The recent entry (May 18) ->

  • On 9 March 1936 in the Przytyk pogrom the National Democracy party organized a boycott of Jewish trade enforced by violence against Jewish stalls. The Jews organized a self-defense organization and fought back, killing one Polish assailant and wounded several others

So because of the boycott of Jewish trade Jews organized a self-defense and killed Poles?... I recommend pausing for 5 seconds and reason before reverting back to this drivel.GizzyCatBella (talk) 18:23, 18 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing to English language two Oxford University Press book, by mainline authors, is far superior to material sourced to a political blog, in Polish, of a far right activist/historian. The boycott was enforced by violence - Poles forcefully closed Jewish businesses, and in response to this violence Jewish self defense was organized - per any serious RS covering these events.Icewhiz (talk) 04:36, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Jews did’t kill in response to the boycott or violence, please read the source.GizzyCatBella (talk) 06:37, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Per mainline source, Jews were defending themselves from a Polish mob that was trying to strongarm their businesses in the market.Icewhiz (talk) 06:41, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Polish mob did’t have firearms please read the source.GizzyCatBella (talk) 06:43, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I am not sure if your assertion is correct, but even if so - so what? I suggest you stick representing mainline academic texts here, and not discredited far right political blogs or texts that most of the academic community rejects.Icewhiz (talk) 06:47, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
But you keep removing an academic text that the information has been referenced to.GizzyCatBella (talk) 06:51, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No. I am removing a political blog on salon24, by a far right activist/historian. And a popular book (not an academic one) by a similar author that has been throughly discredited - Tygiel Kultury, 2002 nr 1/3, pp. 180-184, Gazeta Wyborcza, 2001-03-07, nr 74, p 1, Przegląd Historyczny, 2001, nr 2, pp. 259-261. And instead of these unreliable and highly POVish sources - reflecting what is written in books by Oxford University Press.Icewhiz (talk) 06:59, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Opposite, it is supported by two highly respected scholars Chodakiewicz and Gontarczyk - (expert sources may be considered reliable when produced by an established expert on the subject matter, whose work in the relevant field has previously been published by reliable third-party publications) You referenced your information to journalist Michnik.GizzyCatBella (talk) 07:09, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Chodakiewicz is a far right activist and has been covered by the SPLC a couple of times. His political blog is not an acceptable source. Gontarczyk's book has been thoroughly discredited.Icewhiz (talk) 18:31, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

“Zajścia polsko-żydowskie w Przytyku 9 marca 1936 r” book by Gontarczyk[edit]

Why was this removed [1]? This information is from "Zajścia polsko-żydowskie w Przytyku 9 marca 1936 r" book by GontarczykGizzyCatBella (talk) 07:17, 19 May 2018 (UTC) Oficyna Wydawnicza isbn=9788386379620 by GontarczykGizzyCatBella (talk) 07:24, 19 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Not academically published. Dismissed by as unscientific, unobjective, ignoring and dismissing previous writing as propaganda, rationalized form of the entho-nationalist approach, justifying anti-Jewish violence as a form of national defense as the Jews are not part of the Polish nation but rather an "alien and harmful nation".[1][2] [3][4] Icewhiz (talk) 18:42, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

And besides the above - per WP:NOENG, we prefer sources in English when they are of a higher of equal quality.Icewhiz (talk) 18:44, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Please see diff. My rationale was: "go with the minimalist version as per my suggestion at NPOVN; once the dispute is settled at Przytyk pogrom, could be expanded here". Please let me know of any concerns. --K.e.coffman (talk) 16:01, 20 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
