Ticket controller merge[edit]

I'm proposing that the article, Ticket controller (transportation), be merged into this article as that article lacks significant notability independent of this article's subject, the concept of a proof-of-payment system. This seems a prudent move as the two subjects are so closely related that any source that refers to a Ticket controller will be talking about Proof-of-payment. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 05:42, 13 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would it not be a lot better to merge Revenue Protection Inspector into ticket controller? They seem to completely overlap. Arsenikk (talk) 15:47, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Seems like a good idea, I suppose. —/Mendaliv//Δ's/ 15:51, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I moved the article to ticket controller because I need it as a wikilink, and there is nothing to disambiguate it from. Arsenikk (talk) 16:12, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

List of services[edit]

Proof-of-payment has become an extremely common system in the 13 years since this article was created. Maintaining a list of systems that use it is next to impossible, would require literally dozens of citations, and would provide no benefit for the average reader. I propose to cut the list from the article; if we wish to track it, a category can be used instead. The article should only note specific systems when they are relevant to the concept as a whole - for example, where it was pioneered, where the name was coined, and perhaps studies about how it compares to traditional fare collection. I endorse the idea wholeheartedly. The list has grown too unwieldy to be useful anymore, and while before listing the systems that used an unusual practice might make sense, this method is so common now that it's not an unusual feature that needs to be noted. oknazevad (talk) 22:56, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

possible for all doors to be used for boarding[edit]

This is not necessarily the case. Some systems still require the passenger to go through the front door even though they are not asked to show the ticket. --2001:16B8:3184:3600:D4B9:84E1:AEAD:A6FB (talk) 18:35, 26 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
