Possible source material[edit]

At Allen Weinstein, i removed an in-line external lk to "Statement on Standards of Professional Conduct" of American Historical Association, for the following reasons:

The page is the current edition of a frequently revised document and thus not pertinent to the 1997 apparent claim that Weinstein violated prof stds that existed then, let alone at some point in 1978 or earlier.

The article doesn't specify what acts constituted violations, so the stds can't act as verification of violation.

Even if it did, that would be OR: the topic is the controversy, not anything about which position on it is fact.

The link was not even a description-less footnote, but a piped lk with the accompanying article's title, essentially substituting an ext page for our article, and thus by its intent violating our prohibition on in-line ext lks.

On the other hand, if an editor would like to create a section or 'graph in the accompanying article using this source, it might be valuable for the Weinstein bio to internally lk to it.

Lack of Coordination[edit]

The general area of professionalism seems to me to be unhelpfully split over several articles, including Professionalism, Profession, Professional Conduct, Professional, Professional Ethics, Professional Judgement and Professional Certification. While there is a lot of duplication, there are also gaps in some that are addressed by others. For instance, the response to uncertified persons working as if a professional is not mentioned in Professional Certification. There may also be some disagreements – concerning different professions, geographies and legislation traditions. How could they be better coordinated? I'm not sure duplication is considered a bug on wikipedia - unlike in code. I might suggest a navbox (WP:BTW) to encourage people (including editors to move between the related pages) Talpedia 14:27, 14 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
