The term 'prescriptive analytics' was not familiar to me until a few years ago even though I am a deep expert in decisions making by predicting outcomes and guided by this selecting best decisions. Perhaps there is another term for this. The definition in Wikipedia include that it must be based on 'big data'. Without that then the earliest application goes back at least 40 years. Please clarify this issue in the definition. CarlosWMoreno (talk) 22:39, 28 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The article reads like a commercial. There are still too many statements that lack proper citations. There are no arguments regarding the difference between prescriptive analytics and predictive modelling, causal modelling or EBM (evidence based medicine). Technical details are also lacking. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thomas Speidel (talkcontribs) 14:34, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The difference between predictive and prescriptive modelling is that prescriptive recommends action. For example, predictive analytics would tell you that the price of a raw material is about to rise. Prescriptive analytics would recommend you increase your prices because of a predicted rise in the price of your raw materials. https://www.businessnewsdaily.com/8655-predictive-vs-prescriptive-analytics.html NRGized (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 10:48, 20 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
