Ao ÆTATIS XXX[edit]

I've not got any specific interest in this article or Latin (I'm only passing by), but would've thought it best to provide a translation of the text on the portrait. It seems very relevant to the dating of when it was done, though I only found that out after having translated it myself.

Is the text "Amico optimo aetatis XXX" in full or does "A^o" stand for something else? If so, does it translate something along the lines of "[One of] my best friend[s], at the age of 30" ? (broadly speaking)
