Oregon Biennial[edit]

I merged the list of artists from the Oregon Biennial article, but if none of these artists are notable enough to have a Wikipedia article, then they should probably be removed. Since the Biennial has been held since 1949, there are probably some notable artists who have participated over the years that should be added to the list. Katr67 16:56, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh many of those artists are notable and could easilly have articles penned about them, the fact is nobody has taken it on yet. Ive added many of them lately but it's a lot of work. --Gungnir PDX (talk) 22:06, 11 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PAM?[edit]

Is there a reason why the abbreviation PAM was removed from most places in the article? Most style guidelines that I have used in my professional life recommend that if an abbreviation is used anywhere in an article, it needs to added in parentheses after the first instance of the name spelled out in full. If the abbreviation isn't to be allowed in the article at all, then it should be spelled out in full in every instance (there are still a few sections that don't spell it out). Yes. If you check the page history, which is reached by clicking the "history" tab at the top of the article: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Portland_Art_Museum&action=history Several edits after this one which seemed to be promotional in nature and copying and pasting from PAM's website, I tagged the page as having COI issues, which means the article may need to be rewritten to tone down promotional/unencyclopedic language, though some of this work has been done to remove the worst of it. Also, none of this material was cited, which creates problems for later editors. Katr67 (talk) 05:20, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Katr67- I totally agree. I've reverted numerous times in an edit the reference to PAM as, for example (just making this up): "In 1990 the Museum made a new exhibit about..." The word museum is not a proper noun; it shouldn't be capitalized. This, along with seemingly not mentioning anything negative at all about the museum, is definitely a COI. And if part of the article is plagiarizing PAM's "About Us" page on its website, then it's a sure copyright violation. Members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Oregon are discussing this now.
