Andrea Bocelli performance[edit]

Should it be stated in the article that Andrea Bocelli and Susan Boyle are to perform for the first time together on the show? Ahmad123987 (talk) 17 January 2010 (UTC)

If you can find a reference, that is not based on a rumour, then yes. TubularWorld (talk) 23:23, 17 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Here you go: http://www.timeslive.co.za/entertainment/article243972.ece or http://www.metro.co.uk/metrolife/music/807437-susan-boyle-to-duet-with-andrea-bocelli, there are dozens of other sources. Ahmad123987 (talk) 16:48, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Are they reliable? The Metro one that's currently cited in the article speaks of "rumoured to be" while the Timeslive article speaks of "a source close to the Sun newspaper" (as does the Metro). Is there anything actually solid? If not, I shall delete this ref on 30th Jan (reinstating it is easy enough) as it looks like rumour. Tonywalton Talk 01:19, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
There are many articles about it, it isn't a rumour; Bocelli is even quoted in the articles. Here are some other sources (I'll add the first one to the sources on the article page, since it's from the Sun): http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/showbiz/tv/britain_got_talent/2786584/Susan-Boyle-is-set-to-duet-with-Andrea-Bocelli.html / http://entertainment.stv.tv/music/147074-susan-boyle-set-for-bocelli-duet / http://www.digitalspy.com/music/news/a193041/susan-boyle-for-tv-duet-with-andrea-bocelli.html. Ahmad123987 (talk) 02:58, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And one other thing, the metro article doesn't say that the duet is a rumour ... the rumour is that Bocelli is currently choosing between the Prayer and Time to say goodbye ... I didn't say anything about which song they will sing together in the article. Ahmad123987 (talk) 03:16, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Lovely. That looks like reliable sources (and I apologise, I'd misread that Times reference). I wish ITV would announce it (it might sort out their apparent poor viewing figures!) Personally I reckon there are only two who should be in competition to win it, and I guess neither one will. Tonywalton Talk 23:49, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree, I like the two older ladies, one of whom has been singing the hardest arias every week. I do dought there will even be a second season ... at the end of the day this show will only be remembered as the show that brought Bocelli and Boyle together for the first time. I reckon the duet will be on the finale. Ahmad123987 (talk) 20:20, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can't believe The Sun was used as a reliable source. Are you serious? Angelic-alyssa (talk) 22:04, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I guess all the sources were wrong, or maybe the performers changed their minds, cause the news was reported all over the world with artiles in many languages. Ahmad123987 (talk) 6:24, 19 February 2010 (UTC)

Order of performances[edit]

The list of who sung what doesn't match the order they sang in on the programme. This either needs making clear or correcting. -- Ralph Corderoy (talk) 16:07, 23 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If you have the information (who sang when) to hand, why not fix it? Tonywalton Talk 23:51, 31 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Manual of Style note[edit]

According to the WP Manual of Style, italics should be used for "Works of art and artifice", such as operas (so Carmen, not Carmen or "Carmen") while:

Italics are generally used only for titles of longer works. Titles of shorter works should be enclosed in double quotation marks ("text like this"). This particularly applies to works that exist as a smaller part of a larger work.

So arias should be in double quotes with the applicable opera in italics; ( "La donna è mobile" from Rigoletto, for example)). Keeping to this would save the elves some work. Tonywalton Talk 01:09, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of preview recordings[edit]

During the programme each song is introduced with highlights taken from an existing recorded version. Is it of interest to list who these singers were? So that a CD can be compiled of the professionals. BeckenhamBear (talk) 11:36, 30 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

There are potential problems there: 1) where does the information come from? It needs to follow WP policy, like reliable sources, verifiability and copyright, and 2) while WP is of course a freely-available resource, it's specifically not intended to be used for promotional purposes. Colours[edit]

The colors in Results summary don't match the graph. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.97.75.130 (talk) 11:56, 12 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

What does that even mean when it's spelled correctly, as it just points to the TV and Production company? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.145.74.242 (talk) 22:53, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This article is confusing[edit]

This article is not well written, it's repetitious and confusing. I don't know enough about the topic to fix it. Iful (talk) 08:19, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
