BDS CHR/Top 40 and BDS Canada CHR/Mainstream[edit]

If Nielsen BDS has CHR/Top 40 for the US and CHR/Top 40 (50 songs) for Canada, then why is there not a page for CAN CHR/Mainstream?

  • Comment I'm not against the move but both names are used by Billboard and can be found in reliable sources using one or the other. Where is the Chart?[edit]

I can't find the chart itself in this article. I want to look at the chart, refer to the chart. I want to see the chart at week X of year Y. And remember "oh I remember that song playing that week, that year, on the radio". But I don't see the chart. Where is the chart going to be archived if not at wikipedia? Title[edit]

This chart is only known as "Pop Songs" on Billboard.com. It's official title on Billboard.biz and in Billboard Magazine is Mainstream Top 40, so why was the name changed?

The result of the move request was: moved to Mainstream Top 40. There was a clear consensus to move away from the current title and "Mainstream Top 40" got the most support of all the various alternatives provided. Pop Songs (Billboard chart) → Pop Songs – I know I proposed a move to an alternative title two years ago, but that was only because it seemed the most convenient title at the time. And we don't use double titles when the topic has two separate titles in use. What radio show?[edit]

The subject of this article is the eponymous Billboard magazine music chart. Yet the article section “All-time chart achievements” (currently article section number 3) refers to "Mainstream Top 40 co-hosts, Gary Trust and Trevor Anderson" which seems to signify a particular regular radio program and its disc jockeys. Wikipedia users are left juggling multiple ideas and are caught in the crossfire as both of the two shoot it out seeking semantic supremacy. This second "Mainstream Top 40" ought to be removed or more specifically identified, because this one article ain't big enough for them two discrete concepts. catsmoke (talk) 15:31, 14 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

As of the end of 2022, Billboard gets its airplay data from Mediabase not Nielsen.

Pop airplay significant achievements[edit]

2023 marked the first year ever since the charts creation that two singles each spent at least ten weeks at the number one spot. These songs were Miley Cyrus's "Flowers" and Taylor Swift's "Cruel Summer". I think this should be a highlight on the pop airplay page.
