Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri[edit]

It might me needed to merge Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri with Polypterus endlicheri due to overlapping information. 92.70.152.178 (talk) 09:17, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Polypterus endlicheri congicus has been elevated to a full species, Polypterus congicus. As there are no other subspecies of P. endlicheri, the subspecies name P. endlicheri endlicheri is effectively a synonym of the species.
Polypterus endlicheri endlicheri is completely unsourced. And the content there is poor, frequently confusing the rank. "Prototypical subspecies of the Polypterus genus, meaning most of its features are held across the genus"; no, it's the prototypical subspecies of P. endlicheri not the genus Polypterus, and it's features are not held across the genus. "P. endlicheri endlicheri is one of the larger Polypterus species"; no, it's a subspecies. "There is one subspecies of endlicheri, which tends to grow much larger (39") than P. endlicher endlicheri, and this is Polypterus endlicheri congicus"; so is it one of the larger subspecies or not? There is no reason to merge unsourced content written by editors with a poor understanding of the subject. Just redirect the article. Plantdrew (talk) 22:11, 16 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
