Taxonomy: For all marine species, Project Gastropods uses the taxonomy in the online database WoRMS. When starting a new article, do not use sources of taxonomic information that predate the 2017 revision for all gastropod groups ("Revised Classification, Nomenclator and Typification of Gastropod and Monoplacophoran Families" by Philippe Bouchet & Jean-Pierre Rocroi, Bernhard Hausdorf, Andrzej Kaim, Yasunori Kano, Alexander Nützel, Pavel Parkhaev, Michael Schrödl and Ellen E. Strong in Malacologia, 2017, 61(1–2): 1–526.) (can be dowloaded at Researchgate.net), substituting the previous classification of 2005 Taxonomy of the Gastropoda (Bouchet & Rocroi, 2005). Confusing history of this page[edit]

This page has previously been deleted twice, even though the article currently still exists. The article is being kept for historical reasons (it's out of date taxonomy, but still might be useful to someone, and therefore it should have a talk page I guess.) It most certainly is confusing! But it's hard to know how to start cleaning it up -- I have been working on the Polycerids recently and have followed what looked to me to be B&R taxonomy and then came across a Polycerid family (the Aegiretidae), which were wrongly assigned to the Onchidorididae.... so I have ended up remodifying this page, though as you say the taxonomy is not correct. Also: this is cut and pasted from B&R: Superfamily Polyceroidea (= Phanerobranchiata Non Suctoria)

   * Family Polyceridae
   * Family Aegiretidae
   * Family Gymnodorididae
   * Family Hexabranchidae
   * Family Okadaiidae
