Rossini quote[edit]

I was just typing away, with my radio going in the background, when I heard an aria I recognised - but not from any opera I'd ever heard before. It was "Vieni fra queste braccia" from La gazza ladra, the only part of which I thought I knew was the Overture. But it was so obviously the aria Chopin quoted in his Polonaise in B♭ minor "Adieu à Guillaume Kolberg", which I have played innumerable times..

I've tried to verify googlewise that this is indeed the specific musical quote, but no luck so far. Can anyone help here? -- Jack of Oz [your turn] 05:44, 26 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Garrick Ohlsson's liner notes to his 1973 Angel EMI recording also reports that #15 in B♭ minor includes a quote from 'La Gazza Ladra', which Chopin and Kolberg had seen together. Ohlsson does not identify the specific aria, but this should be close enough to confirm your identification.AlbertBickford (talk) 21:53, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
