Separation from Italy[edit]

In the sentence it should be made clear that it is the Venetist movement that considers the Region Veneto to be separated from Italy, and that it is not a generic or common opinion. --Cantalamessa (talk) 12:36, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you go to Venetist websites or read a book written by a Venetist, you will agree with me that the given definition of Venetism in the article is OK. You can find sources in the article about Venetism. However, I agree with you: we should make clear that it is the Venetist movement that considers Veneto as a separate nation from Italy. What do you think about "Veneto is also home for Venetism, a political movement that appeared during the 1970s and 1980s, demanding autonomy for the region (which is felt by Venetists to be a nation different from Italy) and promoting Venetian culture, language and history. Mayors of Veneto[edit]

Mayors of provincial capitals are notable, the others are not, so please avoid the wikilinks to mayors of minor cities. Andy why Politics of Veneto should be different from Politics of Marche, Politics of Apulia, Politics of Emilia-Romagna or any other "Politics of an Italian region"? I was the one who started each and every article on the politics of Italian regions. They were all designed under a similar template, then some users decided to upgrade some parts instead of others in each article. There is no complete consistency between Politics of Spain and Politics of Ukraine, Politics of Sweden and Politics of Costa Rica, etc., thus there is no need of full consistency between Politics of Veneto and, say, Politics of Emilia-Romagna. However, as this article was the first of the series, this should in case be considered the template for others.
On red links, I have to say that I love them because they are an incentive for editors, but I have no problem with your view either.
The distinction between "provincial capitals" and other municipalities is completely non-sense. I know that Italian journalists tend to distinguish them during election specials, but there is no real reason for doing that. The list was originally a joint one and that should be again. Other articles should have a joint list too.
Finally, the list was never long and difficult to update: I always updated it.
For all these reasons, I will go back to the previous, long-established version, while replacing red links. --Checco (talk) 04:44, 16 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
