State legislatures?[edit]

This page is coming along well, but Qqqqqq and I are having a hard time finding historical records of the compositions of past state assemblies and senates by party. Does anyone know where that information could be found? --Muboshgu (talk) 16:10, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Some problem with the wikicode[edit]

For example, Joel T. Headley, a secretary of state, is currently listed as a governor, the result of some problem in the placement of a rowspan or something, but I can't seem to figure out what it is. There are obviously some other officeholders out of place as well as a result of this same problem. Any ideas? Qqqqqq (talk) 03:48, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've had to deal with some of that from time to time. Some "| "'s are missing here or there are too many, or the rowspan #'s don't add up. I can look into it. Which others are out of place? --Muboshgu (talk) 04:38, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Merge Qualified New York political parties[edit]

I propose we merge the Qualified New York political parties article into this one. It would make a good section to supplement the list/table that makes the most of this article. Int21h (talk) 03:43, 23 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose merger is my tentative "!vote", because this article Political party strength in New York here doesn't make sense to me. It is supposedly about the political strength of parties but provides no information about size of membership or funding or anything like one would expect. It is just a chart of elected officials. It provides no discussion about parties rising and falling, especially not any party that fell below the threshold of getting an official elected. What about elected officials who were the candidates nominated by more than one party? This article needs work or possibly moving/renaming or possibly it should be deleted.

I believe the other article, about Qualified New York political parties, does make sense as a topic. Don't ruin one good article by merging into a vague topic that isn't working; like "don't throw good money after bad". I will watch here and would consider changing my opinion if I understood more about how this article is supposed to work. To the proposer, which order would you intend to present the table here and the text from there, even? Oppose merger this list is factually incorrect, incomplete, unsourced, unmanageable, oversized, and overall useless. It was elaborated by some listcrufter, and has been widely ignored, including by me (I created about 1500 articles on New York politicians, elections and state offices).
