i think the main page could do with some mention of the ellacoya traffic-shaping switches and the tiscali llu/bt adsl max situations? (Tintintintin 15:33, 7 February 2007 (UTC))

Cleanup

I added the cleanup tag because this article has a lot of links that would be better as references. I'll have a go at this later but it's a bit late now. mh. 03:14, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

theres nothing here about the latest plusnet saga involving hacked email addresses

As of December 2010 the Cleanup tag is gone, though sorely needed. Someone please reinstate it. This article could be described as "rambling" with lots of irrelevant or unbalanced information (such as the "2005 - official shirt sponsor" entry under "History" or the long list of awards. There is, however, now a mention of hacked email addresses. --String72 (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

I've made a start at cleaning this article up, removing the majority of the obvious POV material and reordering it into more coherent sections. Hopefully it will read a little less like a Plus brochure now! Ianbetteridge (talk) 13:43, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

I can't see any mention of the TV service mentioned on the main page and would suggest this reference is removed. Regards, Paul Heywood — Preceding unsigned comment added by 194.74.194.224 (talk) 12:16, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

Tidy up of this page

This page has become a mess of late, has many inaccuracies and has a great deal of "opinion" pieces. I'll be taking the time to perform a general tidy of this page over the next few weeks. I'm not looking to censor or remove any of the bad news, I'm just looking to turn it into a balanced piece on PlusNet.

The old plusnet logo is about to be deleted for orphaned fair use. (image:Plusnet-logo.gif). If it would be useful anywhere in the article (history section maybe), someone should add it back before it gets deleted. Bawolff (talk) 05:14, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Polish Plusnet

Part of the article refers to the Polish version of plus.net, yet I tried following the link which redirected straight back to the english homepage? Does the polish version still exist? --81.170.121.209 (talk) 17:13, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

can the nice people at plusnet stop writing up this article?

come on, it reads as an apologetic ad for plusnet. Project2501a (talk) 01:27, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Agreed, it looks ridiculous, its like a gigantic advert for plusnet. someone with experience of the industry but not employeed by them needs to give this a re-write —Preceding unsigned comment added by 91.105.171.67 (talk) 00:46, 1 February 2010 (UTC)

Absolutely agreed. --String72 (talk) 23:42, 18 December 2010 (UTC)

Added a POV banner. --Gausie (talk) 08:32, 12 February 2011 (UTC)

Agreed, done a little tidying but more to do. For one thing, "solution" is marketing speak and not acceptable (it is POV whether it is a "solution" or not), "product" is encyclopedic. Halsteadk (talk) 16:33, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

Plusnet are an active player in the UK's web community, playing an active role in web community events around the UK, especially in the north of England.

File:Originalf9home.png Nominated for speedy Deletion

An image used in this article, File:Originalf9home.png, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: Wikipedia files with no non-free use rationale as of 3 December 2011

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

From Yorkshire - which bits are actually based in Yorkshire?

Plusnet claim in their advertising to be "from Yorkshire" and this article states that they are based in Sheffied. Which bits of their operation are based in Yorkshire and which bits are not, please? I am not aware of any significant internet peering exchanges based in Yorkshire. Do they instead use MaNAP (Manchester, Lancashire) or LINX (London) - which, please? I strongly suspect that only their management, call centre, billing and remote support are based in Yorkshire and that the vast majority of their technical internet operations are actually London-based. Andrew Oakley (talk) 13:29, 13 December 2011 (UTC)

All operations bar Internet connectivity are in Sheffield. Connectivity is in 2 locations in London: Telehouse (http://www.telehouse.net/colocation/carriers-list/carriers/carriersplusnet/) and City Lifeline:(http://usergroup.plus.net/news_071001_networkexpands.php) (PN Employee) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.93.221.17 (talk) 16:13, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
OK anon, but the above just shows that those parts AREN'T in Yorkshire, it doesn't mean that everything else IS (and no, because your first sentence says so, doesn't mean we then assume it is so - even if you are an employee, which we have no means of verifying). Halsteadk (talk) 16:31, 16 May 2012 (UTC)

The entire company is based in Sheffield in one office, however, like all UK ISPs, the actual copper cabling is owned by Openreach, and as a division of BT Group, the backhaul the BT Wholesale L.J.Skinnerwot|I did 15:42, 2 April 2013 (UTC)
