"This may not seem important to Windows users" - it sounds as Windows users don't care about Open Source Software and this is not true. I suggest to remove it.

I don't edit articles well don't know formatting guides well enough. But Plextor U.S.A has put a press release they will still remain in the optical drive business. Plextor Japan and parent company has said, they will continue selling plextor drives, but it is likely future plextor drives will be made by other companies and rebadged with the plextor name. I can also confirm that goplextor.com and plextor.com both redirect to ssstc.com.
