Quebec Lieutenant-Governor told he can no longer jump queue for ferry to country home on St. Lawrence island

One writer called Mr. Duchesne's role "both ridiculous and useless." Another called it "archaic and useless."

The mayor says Mr. Duchesne told him that he works regularly at his island home "and it was important for him to get priority" at the ferry. He also has a condominium in Quebec City.

But his perks - awarded last summer by a substitute ferry captain - didn't sit well with the Isle-Aux-Grues council, which operates the ferry service.

In April, councillors voted 4-2 to repeal His Honour's privilege.

"We're saying, 'Get into line,' " Mr. Roy said yesterday. "Unless you're on official duties, you're going to be treated like any other resident."[1]

I am having problems posting the picture of the Lieutenant Governor in the photo box. If someone is able to do so, I thank you kindly. Ctjj.stevenson (talk) 20:48, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
