An all-white vision?[edit]

As far as I recall, there are no Native Australians in the entire film, although their relics seem to be part of the mystic backgroun Is this correct? And would this be realistic for the place and time?

You would not expect to have found Aboriginals in the type of country being portrayed then or now. To an extent this was the result of disposession (surviving Aboriginals were concentrated in missions and reserves), but population densities were probably never high in the countryside portrayed.--Grahamec 02:22, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
there's a native australian tracker among the search party, wearing a bright red coat--Mongreilf (talk) 15:56, 10 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I used that interview to flesh out Lovell's bio a bit and thought it could be useful here too — 67.101.6.238 03:13, 2 May 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Picnic at hanging rock.jpg[edit]

Image:Picnic at hanging rock.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Picnic at Hanging Rock (film)Picnic at Hanging Rock — Relisted. --RegentsPark (talk) 20:29, 19 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the film is considerably better known than the original novel. (It's also considerably better.) PatGallacher (talk) 18:46, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge with The Secret of Hanging Rock[edit]

Describe errata tied to Picnic at Hanging Rock, likely not enough significant coverage to be useful as independent article Sadads (talk) 01:59, 21 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is Molyvos 1. It's pretty clear to me that this article should be merged with the main Picnic at Hanging Rock entry. This is about the final chapter - how is that not part of the main story?

I agree with this. --Drown Soda (talk) 01:25, 15 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

"Doina Lui Petru Unc"[edit]

This source gives "Doina Lui Petru Unc" as the main theme, as does this source. Martinevans123 (talk) 22:26, 1 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Lesbian theme[edit]

Can I add the category "lesbian related-films" to the article? I understand that this is not so much a romantic, how much a metaphorical film and that the homosexuality shown in the film is situational, but why not? At one time, the director even noted that the lesbian subtext was the first thing he was asked about after the premiere. Solaire the knight (talk) 15:04, 26 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There seem to be plenty of sources to support direct influence e.g. here, here and here? Martinevans123 (talk) 14:08, 26 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
