NPOV?[edit]

Wouldn't some parts of this artice be considered invalid for use on Wikipedia because they express a non-neutral POV? For example "The ninth sonata is an unmistakable masterpiece ... sounding like demented twittering birds..." I would call these opinions, not facts. For example, what if I don't think the ninth sonata is a masterpiece? And I don't hear any demonic twittering birds in it either. I think this article needs some revision. Unless, of course, somebody could back these statements up by showing who it is that is expressing these opinions (ex. "Vladmir Horowitz said that he thought the ninth sonata sounded like demonic birds...") Lunasspectos29 12:04, 28 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not 100% sure but I think the quote was taken directly from the liner notes of Vladimir Ashkenazy's recording of the Sonatas for Decca. Either way, the quote didn't belong in the article. --Steerpike (talk) 13:52, 17 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, granted, it's not necessarily out of place here, but it shouldn't be presented as a matter of fact. With the appropriate citation, it could be included, sure. EDIT: I've since looked up said quote, and found it was actually written in reference to the tenth sonata, not the ninth. --Steerpike (talk) 20:22, 21 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Atonal[edit]

One other question with regard to this piece however: is it atonal, or written in F major? This record lists the ninth sonata as "Piano Sonata No. 9 in F major". Could someone explain this for me? --Steerpike (talk) 18:46, 22 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
