Examples[edit]

Over the last several days I have made a number of changes to this article. This has included adding more examples at the beginning and in the section on equality of distribution. In particular, I included a discussion of the joint distribution of two random variables which now provides a transition from the single random variable case to the stochastic process case previously existing in the article.

I welcome further comments. Daren Cline (talk) 18:00, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

π-λ Theorem[edit]

I have also modified the discussion of λ-systems and this important theorem. I replaced the definition of λ-system with the (equivalent) one that is generally preferred, and I added more discussion about the π-λ Theorem and why it tends to get used in probability more than the monotone class theorem does.

There are many other examples of the use of this theorem and of π-systems in particular. Applications from outside of probability would be interesting, if anyone cares to incorporate them. Daren Cline (talk) 18:00, 5 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
