Perunnelli Krishnan Vaidyar at the age of 8 (that is in the year 1861)joined the School (Kudippallikkudom) of Pettah Raman Pillai Asan in Pettah. This school was around 7 km away from his house, Perunnelli in Muttathara of Trivandum. It was at this school he first met Kunjan Pillai (Chattambi Swami), P. Palpu (Dr. Palpu) and P. Velayudhan (Rao Bahdoor P. Velayudhan). Perunnelli died at the age of 31 when Kunjan Pillai was just 41. The friendship between Perunnelli and Kunjan Pillai was so intimate and close that it lasted till the death of Perunnelli. Dr. Palpu later became his brother in law ( his only sister, Bhagavathy's husband).
When Perunnelli was 16 he left with Nanu (Sree Narayana Guru)to Varanappilli for higher studies. Kummamppilli Raman Pillai Asan was his teacher (Guru)there.
