In the late 60's or early 70's Paul also produced an album called "Paul Frees and his Poster People" where he sang popular songs in the voices of Peter Lorre, Boris Karlov, Bella Lagosi, Ed Wynn, and the like. I believe it has been long out of print.

Ghost Host info[edit]

I just reverted a long parenthetical remark explaining that the name Master Gracey is derived from Yale Gracey the Imagineer. This addition was awkward and had basically nothing to do with Paul Frees. However, I think someone should take the time to add similar info, well-written and properly sourced, to the Haunted Mansion article where it is relevant. --Karen | Talk | contribs 05:58, 5 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orson Welles[edit]

There are several mentions of Frees imitating Orson Welles in his narrations. It's also noted that the two sounded a lot alike, so was Frees truly trying to imitate Welles or simply narrating in his own natural tone?

Also there is mention of Frees appearing onscreen in "Patton." Can anyone confirm this, perhaps with a screenshot? I recall hearing Frees' voice at one point but the actor onscreen was not him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.207.25.194 (talk) 19:45, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I can't help you with Patton, but he doesn't sound very Wellesian speaking as himself on the two Disney attraction CDs (speaking to whoever is directing him). A good cite would be miles better than one person's opinion, though. --Karen | Talk | contribs 02:17, 30 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
His narration for Stan Freberg Presents The United States of America Vol. 1 obviously is meant to sound like Welles with its mock pomposity that makes fun of the supposedly reverential subject matter. By contrast, the narration for Hoppity Hooper doesn't call for any such reference to Welles and sounds more natural. Richard K. Carson (talk) 20:50, 10 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:TR-PaulFrees.jpg[edit]

Image:TR-PaulFrees.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

I don't have a book source, I just know that when Paul Frees worked for Rankin\Bass, one of his memorable characters was "Burgomsister Msister Burger" the antagonist who hated toys and declared Kris Kringle an outlaw in "Santa Claus is Coming To Town"!MARK VENTURE (talk) 23:36, 14 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Suicide of Paul Frees[edit]

According to the second edition of the referenced book by Ben Ohmart, Frees committed suicide by an overdose of sleeping pills. Ohmart directly quotes Frees' son on this, and further states that the story that he died of heart failure was intentionally circulated to the press, even though his death certificate gives suicide as the cause of death. That's "Welcome, Foolish Mortals...The Life and Voices of Paul Frees" (2014). Sorry, editing entries has changed enough that I don't feel competent to do it myself without more study than I'm ready to put in. The book is available on Kindle for $10 and worth it.
