A list may be?[edit]

Is it possible to have a list of highly notable paramahansas in theis artcile? You know, there are not too many of them. Aditya Kabir 18:50, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There's a growing list at Paramahansa. These two articles should no doubt be merged, if someone is up to the task. ॐ Priyanath talk 20:44, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One more godman Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda caught in bed with Tamil actress.

Bangalore: A sting operation by a Tamil magazine and a local TV channel revealed the spiritual leader Swami Paramahamsa Nithyananda in an alleged sex scandal with a Tamil actress.Though both the channel and the magazine have not revealed th...e location, the pictures show Swami Nithyananda in compromising positions with the actress.Minor incidents of protests from various parts of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka have been reported after the channel played the story on Tuesday, following which the police has beefed up security at all his ashrams in the state including Tiruvannamalai, which Swami Nithyananda visits often.Swami Nithyananda is a spiritual leader and runs the Nithyananda Mission which is part of a world-wide movement for meditation and peace.

There's actually too many of them. The following have been claimed as Paramahamsa by their adoring disciples:

   Swami Nigamananda
   Swami Niranjanananda Saraswati
   Hariharananda (self-styled)
   Prajnanananda
   Satyaprajnananda
   Swami Guru Janardan (unknown)
Ramakrishna (widely accepted by wide consensus)
   Satguru Madhu Paramhans Sahib (unknown)
   Swami Satyananda Saraswati
Swami Muktananda (denounced by several of his own senior disciples for sexual improprieties)

Of this list, only Swami Yogananda Giri (that one who was the author of Autobiography of a Yogi) was given the title, not by starstruck disciples, but by his guru Sriyukteswara.

In fact, the above is a very short list -- many more have been called by the title by devotees and disciples. There are at least 500 paramahamsa in the Svaminarayan religion. The ISKCON gurus (many of whom have been widely known for sexual and legal offenses) are also called paramahamsa.Oliver Puertogallera (talk) 01:29, 7 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I believe the two articles paramahansa and paramahamsa should be merged. There is information on the paramahansa page which this page doesn't have. Please put the infomation of both together into this article.--Juthani1 (talk) 02:21, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have made the merge. Paramhansas information is now on the more commonly used term Paramhamsa.--Juthani1 (talk) 03:15, 6 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
