Date of destruction[edit]

The date of the 1698 fire is unclear. Palace of Whitehall is listed on January 4 and Wikipedia:Selected anniversaries/January 4, but John Evelyn's diary entry is dated January 2, so the 4th would seem to be incorrect. Anyone have a source for this date? howcheng {chat} 18:38, 1 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

One year later, I found my own answer. The originally cited source was in error; I've now cited Evelyn's diary directly. howcheng {chat} 23:08, 2 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wren's Design[edit]

Just FYI, the partial drawing you have listed in the article as a design by Wren for a new Whitehall is not drawn by Wren. It was made by Nicholas Hawksmoor, Wren's draughtsman at the time, under Wren's direction. See Anthony Geraghty's text on Wren's All Souls (Oxford) drawings for more details/references etc. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Laidac (talkcontribs) 17:51, 21 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
