Untitled[edit]

I realize that the two accident reports give a conflicting accounts of both the flap/slat (wing) configuration as well as the landing gear deployment. Will fix this as soon as i can get hold of the relevant reports.

This information is incredibly detailed but given the age of the incident I was wondering what the source of this information is.

I transcribed the list of victims from photographs of the memorial in Cairo that i took in August 1996. Also newspaper reports from Dawn May 1965, The Times (London) May 1965 and other newspapers. Some info is from aviation accident databases on the Internet.

I don't mean to bring up painful memories, but are you related to Mr. Shaukat Mecklai, one of the six survivors of the air crash? I realize Mrs. Mecklai died on Flight 705, so i apologize for asking this question.

My maternal grandfather died on Flight 705, so that is why i wrote the article.

Zain Sadullah Khan 12:48, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indeed I am related, he is my grandfather's brother.

I am also a relative of one of the victims, Mr. Rolf Evensen was my uncle. My family was in 1965 told that a memorial tablet would be created. From Norway we contacted the embassy in Cairo 5-6 years ago, for help with locating the mass grave, but the search returned nothing. We was told that the tablet was probably never raised, or taken down by now. Therefore I was surprised to see the photo of the memorial tablet. Could anyone help me with the exact location of the tablet?

Names of victims and survivors[edit]

On July 8th 2013 names of victims and survivors was removed with the comments "we dont normally list victims unless otherwise notable" and " remove unlinked names". This is facts that is not going to change, so they don't need maintenance. Why is information that can be helpful being removed from an article? In the Facebook support group "We Remember: PIA PK 705" people is missing this information. Therefore I have re-added the information by undoing the deletion. Please reply here with more information for why names should not be on the page.

Wikipedia is not a memorial and we dont list names of victims or survivors unless the are otherwise notable. None of the victims (or survivors) have a wikipedia article which is normally the best indicator that they are notable. It is far better that this non-encyclopedic information is carried by specialist or memorial sites like the facebook page. MilborneOne (talk) 17:52, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have requested at the related task force for comments by others, refer Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Aviation/Aviation accident task force#PIA Flight 705 MilborneOne (talk) 17:58, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
We have a longstanding consensus summed up at WP:NOTMEMORIAL that includes not listing all the people killed in airline accidents, unless they are notable people, meaning that they have a biography here on Wikipedia and the biography is not solely due to their death in an airline accident. It says "Wikipedia is not the place to memorialize deceased friends, relatives, acquaintances, or others ..." Just as newspapers don't publish lists of everyone killed in airline accidents, neither do we. These lists are best published on specialized memorial websites, as they don't belong in an encyclopedia. - Ahunt (talk) 18:08, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Per the above, I removed the list of names. WP is not a memorial and there is a longtime consensus that crash victims aren't listed in an article unless they are notable....William 19:49, 30 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Summary[edit]

Can we change it to were the decent occurs before CFIT? as the excessive decent occured prior to ground impact? to which caused the CFIT

How does this sound?

Excessive decent leading to CFIT, cause undetermind (reason for decent untermined)
