Paektusan/Taepodong nomenclature[edit]

The name Paektusan-1 actually refers to the rocket launched on August 31, 1998, whereas the July 5, 2006 launch is named Paektusan-2. Therefore, the names Taepodong-1 and Taepodong-2 could refer to the Paektusan rocket family.

Merger proposal[edit]

As this article has no cites that are live anymore (404s or soft redirects, and in internet searches the Taepodong-1 name is far more popular than Paektusan, I propose this article be made a redirect to the larger Taepodong-1 article. I will add a paragraph on the Paektusan name there, probably using this cite. Rwendland (talk) 11:24, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

This is a strong argument, which I support. I've modified the merge template on the Taepodong-1 page to indicate the intended direction of the merge, and changed the merge proposal date (as the current proposal is in a different direction to that in 2014; it should also match the date on the Paektusan page).
