Which Admiral Moorsom was this ship named after?[edit]

The article currently says that ship was named after Robert Moorsom, who died in 1835. But his son, Constantine Moorsom was also Admiral Moorsom and was chairman of the LNWR (the owner-operator). @Andrewrabbott, does Duckworth or another source explicitly say that the ship was named for Robert? Because we should at least mention Constantine and if the sources are not explicit it seems just as likely that the ship was named after him. Matt's talk 21:28, 31 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Duckworth doesn't say, and neither do any of the newspaper reports in September 1860. Andrewrabbott (talk) 19:32, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for checking, even if the search drew a blank. I am reading Braine's book on Richard Moon and yesterday was pleased to reach a discussion of ship names. He notes that several ships had the names of directors' relatives, but also couldn't find proof of the link. The naming of Earlestown does seem to demonstrate a definite precedent of naming company after directors, though I don't want to get into WP:OR. So I will add the possibility of a link to the relevant ships' articles. Matt's talk 15:50, 5 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
