"Ireland's Biggest Festival"?[edit]

This article claims Oxegen is Ireland's biggest festival. It cites Jim Carroll in The Irish Times in 2008. Jim Carroll is wrong. The biggest festival, and biggest music festival at that, is the Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. Over 200,000 people attend the Fleadh on an annual basis. See here (page 191) and last summer, 2008, 250,000 people were estimated to have attended the Fleadh in Tullamore. Indeed, the Ploughing Championship has an attendance of over 150,000 per annum, according to the first source cited. The Fleadh is not commercial and is promoted by a voluntary body so it is doubly offensive for wikipedia to be used to promote the interests of rock concert promoters with claims which cannot be substantiated by official figures, such as those given by An Garda Síochána. 78.16.173.206 (talk) 21:03, 12 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apparently Jim is not the only one to think Oxegen (and Electric Picnic) are the festivals to beat... "Aside from Oxegen and the Electric Picnic, this will be probably the biggest music festival anywhere in Ireland this summer"... it is only possible for Wikipedia to be as reliable as the so-called reliable sources which exist... --candle•wicke 02:08, 27 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It seems as if the sources mentioned are not comparing Oxegen to the likes of the Ploughing Festival but other music festivals. If as you say the Fleadh is non-commercial then it would at least be accurate to say Oxegen is "the biggest commerical music festival'" although still misleading it would be better than the older wording. Uniformity[edit]

Should we use a uniform layout for the tables on this page? Each year seems to have a different layout/style for their line-up tables (if they even use tables at all) and it would look better and be easier to navigate if they were all the same. Dylan (talk) 01:45, 15 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
