Ox or cows?[edit]

Does not make sense. Why is Ox gall from cows? -69.87.203.190 (talk) 18:58, 27 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, 'cow' is often used as a general term, including both sexes; maybe 'bovines' would be better. 'Ox' is also sometimes used generically rather than specifically (a castrated male draught animal). OTOH, why is ox-gall restricted to male in the first place? Are male gall-bladders different from female? Sometimes English is a durn funny language ;-) --D Anthony Patriarche, BSc (talk) 03:18, 26 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
