Examples and images[edit]

Do we really need so many examples on this page? I can understand putting one example for each small period (so a period 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, and 15 example, since those are most common), but do we need a star and a cross, for example? Especially when the pulsar is far more common and well-known than either of them, and they're all period 3?

Also, I added an external link to the list of oscillators at the LifeWiki, which has a few hundred images that follow the standards set in the main Conway's Game of Life page a bit better than the current images here. Does anyone have any objections/comments to the images being changed? JokeySmurf (talk) 20:02, 28 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with the above. There are too many examples and no text description beyond "period X". Also, "oscillator" is a general term referring to all CA's, so perhaps we should add some examples in not-so-obvious cellular automata? There are a lot. colfulus 12:44, 5 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Generality[edit]

Most/all? the examples here are from the Game of Life, but the article is framed with applicability to general cellular automata. Can we have examples from other automaton schemes? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.40.48.159 (talk) 17:17, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
