Fukudome and the Briefcase[edit]

The account in this article (Fukudome holding onto the briefcase and releasing it before capture, only for it to be picked up by fishermen) is supported by the cited source and a few other older sources online, but does not match the Japanese version, which is much more ambiguous on the matter. More important, it also doesn't match [1], which is fairly authoritative and well-sourced (among other things, Fukudome's post-war interrogation) and provides a wealth of additional detail, including naming the guerrilla who picked up the files (Pedro Gantuangoko).

Frankly, I think this newer version of the story (the linked story involving Gantuangoko) is more likely to be true, but I'll mark it as disputed in the main page for now.
