Shot to Kill[edit]

To the best of my knowlage, there is a differance between shot to kill and shoot to disable. I will do some research on it. The One00 19:04, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Its an interesting topic, which for us fire arms officers could be a career ending decision. SO19 and CO19[edit]

The anti terror branch of the Met. is SO13 The Firearms unit used to be called SO19, and now is called CO19. I have clarified it in the article. Feal free to edit wikipedia, Be Bold in Updating Pages The One00 19:04, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Can this be accurate?[edit]

"After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, many police agencies worldwide seriously considered for the first time the possibility of terrorist activities in their own home countries and cities." Terrorism was at its highest ever point during the 80s and 90s, by the start of the 21st century terrorism was on its decline. Im not sure if "many countries", particularly the UK in question, had never considered terrorist activity within its own country before. Embassies spring to mind. Perhaps this line should be altered? It would have made sense (and introduced what follows) if it said suicide attackers instead of "terrorist activity", as this was indeed a change for the UK. Kanguole 00:31, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IPCC Report[edit]

The IPCC released its report into the Stockwell shooting on 8th November 2007. Kratos was NOT invoked:

It's a bit more complicated than that. The Kratos framework (Designated Senior Officer, hollow-point ammunition and briefings on special tactics) was in place for the operation, and the Kratos tactics were used (multiple shots to the head from point-blank range, without warning). All that was missing, according to the report, was the authorization from the DSO that is supposedly required to activate those tactics. (OK, the police claimed that warnings were given, but none of the civilian witnesses heard them, and the IPCC point out that warnings would be inconsistent with the officers' professed belief that this man was a suicide bomber liable to set off his bomb at the first sign of trouble.)
