Portrait by Titian or Tintoretto?[edit]

In early twentieth century sources, the portrait of Panvinio at the Colonna is referred to as being by Titian. (Some of these books are illustrated, so you can tell they're referring to the same painting as the one still at the Colonna now.) See, e.g., Harwood.[1] However, Harwood refers to Panvinio as a Franciscan rather than an Augustinian, so I'm not inclined to give her opinion much historical credence anyway. Far more importantly, Colonna Gallery's website currently refers to that same portrait as being by Tintoretto.[2] I can't find a scholarly secondary source on the attribution of the portrait at the moment, but I assume the people at the Colonna know what they're doing, so I'm changing the article text to say that Panvinio's portrait was by Tintoretto. If I've got this wrong, I'll welcome correction. Thanks, Rinne na dTrosc (talk) 14:46, 22 August 2013 (UTC) Even if it is by Tintoretto, it is not clear that the subject is Panvinio.[reply]

Concerning References[edit]

The bibliographical notes at the end of "Publications" should be put in "References" and properly annotated as to place, publisher, date. Perhaps the references on this Talk page should be incorporated on the Article page. Vicedomino (talk) 11:28, 26 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
