Merge to Omonia[edit]

I note that the recent merge to Omonoia has been partially reversed by The Banner, with a justification in the edit summary that the merge proposal wasn't visible. It is true that there wasn't a template on the Omonoia Square page, but there was one on the Omonoia page since:

  • So, this was a proposal uncontested for almost 2.5 years; the merge seems perfectly reasonable given that the suburb is centred on the square and their histories are inextricably intertwined. Given that it wasn't tagged here, I agree that it is reasonable to reopen the discussion. I therefore propose reinstating the merge, on the grounds that the subjects benefit from being discussed together, and that the Omonoia page without the square is very small. • Oppose as it will mess up Template:Landmarks in Athens and Template:Streets in Athens that both link specifically to the square, not to the neighbourhood. Both articles need improvement. The Banner talk 19:03, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
    • That's easily resolved by linking the redirect to a section for the square on the Omonoia page, or use the Anchor template. It is also true that both need improvement, and the Omonoia page is so small it will greatly benefit from a merge. Klbrain (talk) 20:05, 14 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Merge. The two articles are practically about the exact same place. Every source one can find in Greek uses the term 'Omonoia' to denote both the eponymous square and the surrounding area. That is because the two are synonymous, which is why the Greek-language Wikipedia only has one article under the title 'Omonoia' with information about the square and the surrounding area. -The Gnome (talk) 10:06, 2 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
