Birth details[edit]

I may take another look at this article at some time, but in the meantime... Various sites give her birthplace as "Tur Brook" in England. There is no such place, though there is Purbrook, near Portsmouth in Hampshire. Looking at (user-generated) family history sites, her birth name seems to have been Ellen Constance Muriel Harding - known to her family as Muriel. The birth is registered in 1884 at Portsea - again, near Portsmouth. Her father, Herbert Harding (1858-1943), was born in Portsea but as an adult worked as a municipal clerk in Liverpool. He married Ellen Jane Williams Martyr (1857-1934) - she was born in Plymouth but moved to Portsea as a child, and they married in Portsea. Herbert and Ellen lived in Liverpool, but their first two children, Muriel and her older sister Evelyn Maud, had their births registered in Portsea. Muriel is recorded in West Derby, Liverpool, with her parents and siblings, in 1901 and 1911 - at 13 Buckingham Road in Tuebrook, Liverpool. So, "Tur Brook" could perhaps refer to Purbrook, or (perhaps more likely) be a transcription error for Tuebrook, where her parents lived. None of this comes from reliable sources of course, but may be relevant to future researchers. Ghmyrtle (talk) 13:12, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
