Cleanup[edit]

I've cleaned up this page as best I was able. One thing that could be controversial is that I undid the division of the page into political entries in one bunch and military entries in another. I did this because the dichotomy was entirely specious. Many of the "military" entries are not in fact military by municipal or state ceremonial and civic entities (i.e., they are political) with a veterans theme, meanwhile at least two of the three genuinely military entries were hand-picked by those whom they served (i.e., highly political again). And so on. It's just too subjective. I have instead reorganized the list by primacy/frequency of meanings in question, and further sorted it by how closely it actually matches the page name (that is, "Old Guard" first, "Old Guards" second, and "Old Guard something" third), and finally, put redlinks last in each of these quasi-sections. I've also cleaned it up so that every line has one bluelink, per WP:MOSDAB. Also, removed two unsourced entries that seemed improbable or non-notable, including a bit of Star Wars fancruft that doesn't appear in any of the films or other major works (apparently it's in one of the "extended universe" novels or games or comics or something, if it was even real; too hard to find, and not mentioned at any of the large number of articles that were linked to from the rambling entry). — SMcCandlish Talk⇒ ʕ(Õلō Contribs. 11:47, 9 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
