GENERAL NOTES[edit]

It is hard to write about the Oh Boy Oberto company without seeming like an advertisement somehow. Oberto was a family-owned company in Kent (Seattle area). The founder was a frequent sponsor of charities. He also liked the annual Seattle boating event Seafair and sponsored a hydroplane boat in it. In some ways, writing about Oberto would be like writing about the Seattle seafood restaurant chain Ivars which does a number of benefactor events including the famous Ivars Fourth of July fireworks in the Seattle harbour each year.

Some years ago, Oberto was purchased by the Lawry company and the public support activities of Oberto waned after that. I guess there's nothing like being bought up by a soulless profit-making corporate giant to make a local company change personality.

Oberto runs some outlet shops similar to how some bakeries run outlet shops for their products close to expiration. Failed experimental products are also found at the Oberto outlet shops such as that strange salad topping that never caught on.
