Changes[edit]

I've changed the "neutral journalistically" to "neoliberal journalistic", as the paper has a clearly market-oriented economic coverage and usually reflects Febraban's (Federação Brasileira de Bancos - the most important association of banckers) in Brazil. It also publishes mainly the opinions of representants of that view.

O Estado de S. Paulo is no longer a conservative newspaper, the editorials are anti-Bush , pro-choice about abortion,pro-Bachelet on Chile elections. "Estadão" is a liberal newspaper nowadays.

I don't think labels like "progressive", "conservative", "liberal", etc make much sense. It is well known that political parties which like to call themselves "progressive" are strongly opposed to many changes: that's usually called "conservative"! Tsf 23:20, 12 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Failed GA[edit]

This article has a lot of problems

  • The most obvious problem is the quality of English, which makes the article very hard to read and understand in most places
  • "ridiculed by the concurrence (Correio Paulistano, O Ipiranga, and Diário de S. Paulo)."
  • "It gave more agility to international news"
  • "When the then editor in chief Francisco Rangel Pestana departed himself to work in a project of the Constitution,"
  • "After the financing purification, the Estado endeavored innovator graphic reformulation"
  • There are many more examples that make the article very difficult to understand
  • Past tense should be used not present tense, otherwise it will sound as though you are doing runnung on the history as though you are narrating, which is against the Wikipedia style
  • Section headers should not be wikilinked
  • There is a large shortage of sources in teh article and the ones that are there need to be formatted. Also, there are few refs apart from the official website, so there are no 3rd party refs.
  • Refs should be before external links
  • "Notas e Informações" needs sources, otherwise you are passing personal judgment on the nature of the paper.
  • There needs to be a section of finance, administration etc of the newspaper.
  • the article is not broad enough, as basically the entire article is concerned with history and nothing else
  • The lead should summarise the whole article. At the moment the lead basically on discusses the start of the history, the lead is not to be used as the start of the main body.
