Location[edit]

I've done an overlay of the 1906 OS map on the Google aerial view to show the location reletive to current landmarks. See http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3564/3309525443_472cca83e5_o.jpg The northeast dot is the Supertram depot and the southwest is the engine shed. This was the reasoning behind my revert [1] of the changes made by User:Scillystuff Talltim (talk) 23:19, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for that correction. My move was based on the 1924 OS map (http://www.ponies.me.uk/maps/osmap.html?z=14&x=-1.443667&y=53.384417) and the information on the Supertram depot page which implied that the depot was in the same place and larger than the engine shed. This was backed up by a geograph picture of Nunnery sidings putting them next to the main line - http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/936828. Does that mean the Supertram Depot info is wrong? Now I'm not certain I am right! The O/S map you linked to doesn't actually show the shed, but the Supertram depot article is convincingly written. My location would place it just south of the western entrance to the depot. My map (from www.old-maps.co.uk (I can't work out how do a direct link)) does show what looks like a shed (although its under the dot I put on, sorry) but doesn't specifically say it is the shed. I think the building in the photo may be a red herring. I do know that the Nunnery colliery line was the furthest south of the lines at this site so I think it would be unlikely that the shed was next to the main GC lines. Trouble is, I'm getting into the original research area here!. I'll think on it some more Talltim (talk) 10:11, 26 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
