Citation issues

@PadFoot2008: The citations 3-7 go nowhere, the corresponding sources are not in the article. Could you please add them? This also loks like copying form some other Wikipedia article. If so, it needs to be attributed per WP:ATTREQ. Викидим (talk) 08:50, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

Reliability

I wonder how much reliable the Edgar Thorpe source is when it considers Sikkim as 'north-central'. I haven't seen modern UP being labelled as a northwestern state in scholarly work dealing with the subject, though they would routinely include the other states mentioned here, maybe barring Uttarakhand in some cases. The only time NW is talked in the same sentence with UP is when referring to the British Era North-Western Provinces, but then the actual regions of NW India weren't within the Empire. Title

Shouldn't it be called "Northwestern India"? Google (both regular anc Scholar) prefers the current title by a relatively small margin (1.5x), but IMHO the "northwestern" variant rolls of the tongue smoother. Викидим (talk) 17:18, 7 April 2024 (UTC)

I had indeed considered that, but a few reasons in support of "Northwest India" came to my mind:

1. The article Northwest India (pre-1947)
2. The article Northeast India
3. And obviously like you said, it was more popular by a tiny bit.

I believe there is consensus that Wikipedia articles for regions of India should be named without the "-ern" suffix e.g. North India, South India, etc. GreekApple123 (talk) 00:09, 8 April 2024 (UTC)

A source that treats the subject as a whole

Is there a source that treats the modern Northwest India in some detail as a whole? The best I found is the travel guide:

Found (and added) a book with an explicit list:

Sub-sections within the History sections

Hello @GreekApple123, I appreciate your attempt in trying to better organise the section but as of now it's organisation is very sufficient and no more splitting is required. Even the main article India covers the period 1526 to now in only two sub-sections: early modern and modern. Besides colonial era is ambiguous and the terms are not very preferred and should generally be refrained from being used. PadFoot2008 (talk) 08:43, 10 April 2024 (UTC)
