Tense[edit]

Many assertions in this article are written in the present tense, yet backed by cites from tabloid newspapers five years ago. This leads to significant inconsistencies, e.g. do the PRP still refer to a "murder" after the court accepted a manslaughter plea? Please consider the use of intext dates to avoid these problems, or update with current sources. LeadSongDog come howl! 20:54, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There is something off about this article, and that we ran it on the mainpage is a concern. Not knowing where else to post about this, I've lodged a query at the BLP noticeboard. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 01:34, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:BLPCRIME, we should have evidence of conviction to support the discussion of charges - which of the people mentioned were convicted, and of what? Nikkimaria (talk) 14:41, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Per the BLPN, I suggest we remove all names except those for whom we have reliable sources indication outcome (ie, conviction). This article read like a hit job on the untried (innocent until proven guilty still applies in most countries, I think?), and since the sources are so old, we must know outcome on some of them of the charges. LeadSongDog: I have switched all instances of the word "murder" with "homicide" in order to recognize the legal difference between murder and manslaughter. More current potential sources for this article exist, and I will try to add them to the article soon.
Nikkimaria: Thank you for the help in cleaning up the article. I believe all Canadian convictions are made public, so I will look into finding those sources and adding them to the article.
SandyGeorgia: This source discusses several of the convictions. I am looking into finding sources discussing the other outcomes. Neelix (talk) 19:03, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I have also added this source, which discusses several other convictions. Neelix (talk) 02:03, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Toronto Sun and its kin are not exactly the best of wp:RS. If you can't find independent confirmation from a more serious publisher, I'd be very concerned. Please tread very carefully if you must use it.LeadSongDog come howl! 22:42, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
