Norrtelge[edit]
I've seen this place on the web as Norrtelge. See Geonames server for example and there are over 15,500 results on Google. I'm trying to track down if this is an English variant spelling. It's seems a well known variant. I am wondering about adding a redirect page to this page, and adding it to the lead. - Norrtelge or more commonly Norrtelje are spellings used before the Swedish spelling reform of 1906. It is really not an "English spelling", but an arcaic one. It is perhaps used in many languages in order to avoid the letter "ä", which may be a bit unfamiliar. There are some such examples of old-fasioned spellings of Swedish place-names, i.e. Gefle (Gävle), Wexiö (Växjö), Christianstad (Kristianstad), Hvellinge (Vellinge). They are today un-official, but could be used in names of local newspapers or firms.--Muniswede (talk) 21:18, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
