Party?[edit]

Since when was No Pokies a political party?--cj | talk 09:12, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fixed. Timeshift 11:15, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No context[edit]

Unless someone knows about Australian politics, this article is pretty cryptic. It needs a decent introduction that explains (at least):

  • what a pokie is (that's a singularly Australian expression, I think)
  • why the pokie problem is so bad that someone would start no-pokies movement
  • what, beyond the very vague phrase "anti gambling", the No Pokies people's policies in this regard actually are

Thanks. 87.115.44.201 (talk) 19:09, 17 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Added pokies/poker machines sentence... not hard. The second two I don't feel require attention but if you do, you're more than welcome to contribute. Timeshift (talk) 01:30, 18 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

South Australia Election 2010[edit]

Did this party contest the latest elections in South Australia?--80.201.199.187 (talk) 18:18, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No. Timeshift (talk) 23:24, 24 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Time to rename article?[edit]

Xenophon has not used the No Pokies moniker for a number of elections now, instead he uses his own name as his brand name these days. At the 2013 federal election his ticket was referred to as the "Nick Xenophon Group", at the 2014 state election, his sponsored ticket is named the "Nick Xenophon Team". Should this article now be renamed Nick Xenophon Team?

Due to historical significance, no, but you could add something like "also Nick Xenophon Team" in the lead if you want. Timeshift (talk) 22:42, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Enh, actually I think a move would be OK. The lead at the moment is incorrect, since it says "No Pokies is a ..." when it's no longer called No Pokies. Either the article is about specifically the 2006 ticket, which seems kind of unnecessarily narrow, or it's about the grouping Xenophon has established, in which case it should be at either NX Group or NX Team. (I'd go with Group, since that's the federal registration.) Frickeg (talk) 01:17, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Could go Nick Xenophon Team, previously No Pokies etc. Timeshift (talk) 01:24, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I like that suggestion. The Drover's Wife (talk) 02:51, 6 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
