Acyl halide?[edit]

- Any compound that can formally be considered a derivative of an acid in which an -OH group is replaced by an -X (halide) group is an acyl halide. This includes more than just the halides of carboxylic acids.
- In the case of nitryl fluoride, it can be formally derived from nitric acid (HO-NO2) by replacing the -OH group with an -F group, forming nitryl fluoride (F-NO2).
