Nikolai Borisovich GalitzineNikolai Borisovich Galitzin – Per WP:COMMONNAME : ""Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's "official" name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources". The form "Galitzine" (which seems to be used in texts in French) is not used by any authoritative English-language source which I have been able to identify. Most English sources refer to Galitzin in the context of Beethoven and those that use the spelling 'Galitzin' include all the major biographies and reference books - including

Oxford Music Online lists him as "Golitsïn [Galitzin], Prince Nikolay Borisovich", giving 'Galitzin' (but no other version) as an acceptable English transcription of the name. Smerus (talk) 15:40, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is fine. The surname "Galitzin" is the name I used when I created the article; the name was subsequently changed twice by other editors. (I originally had the first name "Nikolay", which is probably not the generally accepted spelling). AtticTapestry (talk) 17:25, 18 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
